bluelog - virtual meter

Introduction

A virtual meter is a single virtual devices, designed to combine real meters and aggregate them into a single meter to be used in Monitoring and Power Control.

Use Case

Installation at a commercial plant without a common feed-in and import meter.

  • To generate a virtual single device if a single meter does not measure the entire feed-in and import power at POI.
  • To reduce and save costs when retrofitting of the medium voltage transformers is not economical

Functional description

A virtual meter can be added / managed in the section "DEVICES" in the sub-menu "Meters".

To create a virtual meter, there have to be at least two real devices available and configured.

The algorithm behind the calculation of each parameter is hard-wired and basically sums up the values and creates average values (where appropriate).

A special case in the virtual meter exists if a meter does not deliver values, the meter is excluded from average calculation in order to avoid wrong avg values.

The virtual meter exists as a meter device in blue'Log

  • Data will be monitored and exported to VCOM as a meter
  • It's possible to use it as source for Power Control and for the power display in the "Cockpit"
  • Please be aware of the maximum device count in blue'Log (Virtual meter counts as a device)

Restrictions

Feature is available with firmware ≥ 25.0.13

Feature is available on blue'Log XC and blue'Log XM.

  • To use it as a source for power control the real meters must be connected to the blue'Log XC (Master) and the virtual meter must be configured also on the blue'Log XC (Master)

There is no extra limitation for the maximum number of meters combined in a virtual meter but be aware of the maximum count of devices for the blue'Log (e.g. 10 real meters + virtual meter = 11 devices)

add virtual meter

1. Manage virtual meter

2. select sourcemeters

3. if necessary, edit virtual meter
